Hi to every one!
This is my 1st post to this site, but I have been reading for awhile now. As all newbies, I to have a question! I did low carb back in the early 70's and lost a ton of weight! (and found my husband of 25 years) and was forced of the program because of my doctors (cancer in the early 80's, now I am fine!) A new group of doctors recomended I return to this way of eating in 2000. Now for my question. Why is it that I have been at a stall for 16 weeks with no weight loss? (just the same 3 lbs up and down) My water consumtion is at least 120 oz. a day, I only eat 2 full meals a day, and 2 small snacks, (just can's eat first thing in the morning). After all this time you think I would have at least lost 10lbs in 4 months. Prior to this stall I lost about 50 lbs, but had a major back slide last summer! I need help! or at least words of encourgement!

Welcome caretaker!

What you are experiencing is quite normal and it's something almost everyone goes through. Look at it as an opportunity to either rest or tweak your plan.

What works to start out with in low-carbing may not work after a while and it takes some figuring to know what to do. You may want to start a journal to keep track of what you're eating and get input from others.

Just sit tight and remember the health benefits that this WOL brings. It's not just about weight loss.

Karen

Congratulations on your loss so far. I'd second everything Karen has written you, and also suggest that you keep a journal and write down everything you eat and quantities. Running them through fitday -- www.fitday.com -- or another nutrition program is a good thing, too. Often we think we're on program, but a little of this and a little of that adds up. Also, there's a chance you may not be eating enough calories, especially if you're only eating two meals a day. Several people here have moved to a six-meal a day pattern (mini-meals) and are having results with that).

As Karen said, tweak the program. Are you eating any of the foods that can cause stalls in some people (cream, cheese, artificial sweeteners)? Maybe having a high calorie day one day and a low one the next -- something so your body doesn't get used to a routine.

Good luck! Check in and let us know how you're doing.
