Default Extreme Makeover on TV

Last night the show, Extreme Makeover, they profiled a man who has lost, like 200 pounds in a year and now has seriously saggy skin.

On last night's episode, they did some face work on him (brow lift, eye job, nose job, neck lipo), and on the next they will give him a whole body lift (waist, arms, thighs).

It's on ABC-TV, and here in Chicago it is on Wednesday night at 9:00 central time.

Donald

P.S. We've been discussing it in the Triple Digits area if you're interested...

Default Hope for loose / sagging / squishy skin.

Thought I'd post this here as well.

http://www.bodyfatguide.com/LooseSkin.htm

I thought the above article was interesting and that it gave me a certain amount of hope. My husband and I are both doing Atkins and his goal is losing more than 100 lbs. Although I've only lost about 40 lbs, I do notice the loose / sagging / squishy skin tone, but at the same time I'm noticing (particularly during this plateau I've been sitting on for a while now), that things are slowly shrinking back into place.

I have read that it takes about a year for skin to shrink, I've also read that adequate nutrition and exercise to build up the muscles beneath helps, and I've also read that slowing the pace of weight loss helps to minimize the extreme flabbiness.

Years ago I had breast reduction surgery, and I've never regretted it ever. So I totally understand the motivation to handle things from a surgical aspect, however, I think it is worthwhile to give time a chance to heal, if only to avoid the serious scarring.

This site shows some examples of tummy-tuck surgery:

In some of the examples given, however, I think show a person who still has a significant amount of body fat that potentially could be lost. Age certainly is a factor as well.

BTW, according to the listings in Chicago, tonight's episode is not the conclusion of last week's. I believe that will run next week.
