Go to the Low Carb Studies tab at the top of the forum, then scroll down to the bottom and there is a section on FATS. I kind of stick with Butter and Olive Oil, but I'm considering taking fish oils as a supplement perhaps.

Hello Ryu.

The short answer is that the only "bad" fats are trans fats - such as those found in margarine.

The long answer is that if you do some reading on this WOE (way of eating) you will find this out for yourself.

You see, trying to eat in this way is such a fundamental change, in body chemistry as well as eating habits, that you really need a "road map" to help you answer questions you don't even realise yet you might have.

I would strongly advise you to check "Which low carb plan is right for me" to the right side of the screen. When you have chosen the plan that best suits you and your lifestyle, go out and buy the book. I cannot stress strongly enough to you how much more likely you are to stay on this WOE if you have read the appropriate book.

Good luck to you, Ryu.

There is a very good book about fats that you might consider picking up and reading: "Good Fat VS. Bad Fat" by Maggie Greenwood-Robinson, PhD.

On the cover of the book, she says....."The right kinds of fat can: prevent heart disease, reduce risk of cancer, lower cholesterol, promote weight loss" and she will explain all of that to you in the book.

We have had so much information in the last 15-20 years about how important it is to go with low fat eating that we've lost sight of the benefits of some fats. Being informed is your best defense for managing a healthy LC eating plan.
