Of course, your wedding *is* the only one of those that presumably is a once-in-a-lifetime event -- it's not like you get married once a year!
I had a lot of people ask me "are you going to eat your cake?" when I got married last May, since pretty much everyone knew I'd lost all that weight on Atkins. I actually had planned on eating my cake, and some of the groom's cake as well, but the truth of the matter was that I only managed to get three bites of the wedding cake and one of the groom's cake! I was actually kinda disappointed, because it was really, really good cake .
As for the cheating issue, I'll probably be eating the tiramisu myself for my own first anniversary in May, or at least splitting it with my DH. I cheat under very limited parameters -- small servings of starchy things at Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners, and real desserts on very special occasions (like, 3-4 times per year). Nutritionally, that isn't enough to have any kind of lasting impact, and I don't have a psychological problem with it turning into constant cheating. Sure, I've seen holiday cheat meals turn into slippery slopes for people, and it all depends on your personal degree of self-control and sugar addiction. However, if you're not a hardcore carb addict, you will probably do all right physically and mentally as long as you *keep it to one meal*.
