Question low carb bars

I am wondering if anyone can help me here. I am on day 3 of Protien Power and reading all i can, check all the labels and watching for Hidden carbs becuase i really want to make this work. I work long hours and thought the low carb bars would help late in the day but noticed they say they are only 2-3 grms of carbs but on the inside label it says carbs 21grms. Am I missing something, are they okay or better to leave alone altogether. I have found spenda and it is great in tea.

Hi, I agree with you, splenda is super in tea! I love it! A little splenda, a teaspoon of cream, and tea is yummy!

To answer your question, my understanding is that there is a concept in Atkins of "net carbs" - the carbs that count, in other words, that have an impact on blood sugar/insulin levels.

One easy formula is to subtract the amount of fiber from the total carbs. But this is only part of the formula - there are some kinds of carbs which apparently have negligible effects on blood sugar, so they also don't count.

The Atkins bars (if you are talking about those) are great - they already do the work for you and tell you how many carbs to count toward your diet - I think most of those bars are either 2 or 3 net grams that count towards the 20 grams (or whatever) of carbs per day...

HTHS,
Love, Leora
