Default Can't believe it's not butter!

Hi All!

Quick question - have this left over "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray" in the frig. and wondering if I can use it...

Nutrition Facts state: 0 fat, 0 carb, 0 protein, 15mg sodium.

Ingredients: water, liquid soybean oil, salt, sweet cream buttermilk, xanthan gum, soy lecithin, polysorbate 60, lactic acid, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, calcium disodium.

Certainly doesn't look appetitizing...

Nevertheless, can i use it? Or is there something bad in there?

thanks viv

I would use it very sparingly just to get rid of it. Real butter is sooooooooo much better.

Default Sure, use it

Hi all,

Sure, you have the stuff, use it. There's nothing particularly bad there.

But, Viv, once it is all gone, butter, real BUTTER, tastes so good. One of the grand things about the Atkins diet is the wonderful taste of butter.

(I'm one of those people who come from the "Eat everything on your plate, poor children somewhere are going hungry" school. So, I clean up my plate. Can you imagine those starving children somewhere getting the message that I've eaten everything on my plate, and they all say, "Oh gosh, now I feel better" ?)

I use that spray for greasing casserole dishes only - for convience sake. I need the fat to lose so I don't cut it in anyway possible.

I use the sprays on occasion too - for convenience mostly. I eat regular butter 95% of the time.

Default Exact Details

I can't remember the exact details, since this was a while ago, but in my WW days, lots of people used that stuff for recipes. They would actually take the sprayer off and pour it like liquid butter. So someone decided to write to the company and get the total nutrition info for the whole bottle. Like I said, I don't remember the specifics, but one bottle had about 900 calories and 90 grams of fat, not sure on the carbs. Reason they could list it as calorie/fat free is because the serving size is so small. One bottle (the Parkay brand in my fridge, which DH still insists on using) has 1130 servings for cooking, 226 servings for topping!!!! OH my goodness!!!!!

I don't use it because now that I can use real butter, which is so yummy, why use that nasty stuff!!!!

Amy

Default Butter Spray

It is basically an oil product without trans fats. It can be good for coating pans if you are going to bake something. It can be good for basting chicken or pork. I wouldn't dump it.

Good Luck!
