Default 1 more question..(for this hour..lol..)

My sister, who was a non-believer of Atkins when I 1st started, is now on her 3rd day of Induction! Needless to say she is calling me 10 x's a day with this question & that. Today she went shopping and came home with out mayo b/c she couldn't find one without sugar. I went to the fridge while on the phone to tell her I'm using Kraft Mayo and I see that at 0.1 carbs per tbsp it DOES have sugar ?!?!?! Arg !!!!!!! Here I am preaching to her about making sure she reads all her labels and she catches me with SUGAR !!!!!! Here in Canada, I doubt there is such a thing as SF mayo.

Whatcha' think? Am I eating the wrong Mayo?

I hate when this happens!!!!

Joy

A lot of products have trace sugar in the ingredients.

I know during induction you are allowed salad dressings that are under 2 carb per 2 TBS serving. So I figure that the trace amount in mayo are acceptable.

I think awareness is the key here.

Hi,

I live in Canada too and am also pretty new to this,(this time round) I think the tiny bit of sugar in storebought mayo is ok, right now I am using the no name mayo as it had less carbs than the PC(President Choice) you could always make your own mayo, there are some recipies I'm sure in the recipe section here and any basic cookbook has a mayonaise recipe.

The regular Mayo with the trace of sugar in it is okay. This is why Atkins tells you to limit cheese, there are trace amounts of Carbs.

I think the mayo will be fine, you just want to watch the REAL large sugar content in things.

I buy Hellman's Real Mayonnaise - I've always used it and have no problems with it - I tried to make my own once - doesn't have a "fridge" life and not as good.

I am in the states and I use Duke's mayonaise. It has NO SUGAR! Not that the trace sugar in any brands is really going to do any harm, the thing is, I really like this mayo!

You can order on line at www.cfsauer.com if they don't have it by you.

Hope this helps.

Thank-you all for your replys..

I should try to be a little less stressed about it all. I just thought that we were supposed to avoid anything with sugar! I'm glad, though. I love this Mayo!

Thanks again,

Joy

I find that if I stress over the miniscule amount of sugar in mayo (real mayo, not spreads), I will go nutty. Almost every food has a trace of carbs in it. How much mayo do we really use? What is it, 4 carbs per jar? So relax!
