Default One plan vs. jumping around

Hey there,
I've been back on LCing for a few days now and it makes me wonder why I ever got off the wagon . I feel better than I have in a long time.

Anway, my personality is very weird in that I don't like sticking to one thing and eating plans are no exception. I've tried Atkins, CALP, and am now on GO. I like all three for different reasons. I'm wondering are there any other LCers out there who have been LCing on different plans or do you mainly stick to one plan? I'd like to know both for those who are in the weight loss phase and for those who are on the maintenance WOL phase.

Thanks,
Tam

Hi Tam! While I certainly wouldn't recommend that a newbie "plan-hop", most of us develop our own tweaked plan once we've read a few books. Particularly once you've hit maintenance, because the plans resemble each other closely, anyway.

I basically follow PP, and use the principles of other plans on occasion. For example, if I've been cheating like I did over Christmas, I'll do a few days of induction, basically. Not quite by the book, but 20-ish grams of carbs. If I'm going to a party or something, I try to make it a CAD type meal: veggies and protein, then a few 'cheaty' treats, but no more eating after an hour.

HTH.

Hi Tam,

I'm like you, don't like staying with one thing forever including lc'ing. I started with Atkins and stayed with that about 6 weeks then jumped to CALP for about hhmmm...about 8 days maybe then went out of town for 8 days and tried to stay close to CALP but didn't do very well but didn't binge either. Today I started back on Atkins induction which I will do for about a week or two (need a jump start) than switch back to CALP. I really like CALP and is something I can live with. Once I get down to 145 I don't thinks it will be a problem for me maintaining that since I maintained 175 for about 3 years eating anything I wanted. Not sure how that happened..think my weight gain had a lot to do with medications and severe depression which left me extremely inactive. Anyway, stable now and motivated to lose 30 pounds. Might take me longer on CALP but I have finally accepted that and it's ok with me.
