Question Push-up weight training ?

OK here is the question. How well dose working out with weights increases your push-up Max? I am rejoining the army; finally have a ship date of January 7th. The problem is that I have cut just shy of 100 pounds and lost a lot of upper body strength. So I have just over two months to get as much of it back as I can.

When I lost the bulk of my weight I was just swimming and not weight training. If any one has any hints, tips or pointers they would be very appreciated.

Thanks a lot

Upper body weight training, done properly, can increase your upper body strength quickly, especially for someone young.
You should do a balanced program. For basics pick up Body for Life. You can also split your upper body workouts into push (chest, triceps, shoulders) and pull (back, biceps).
