Default Mea culpa! and salad dressing..

I know this is is a ridiculous question, but is it just me who continually begins a food plan and then somehow, without having any idea how, find myself sleeping a beautiful Saturday away in a carbo stupor? Why do I continue to punish myself with the fat and feeling downright GROSS all the time??? Does anyone else do that???

...Anyway...here I go again...I have my Atkins book, I'm getting psyched, and ready to give life a chance again for the twelve-billionth time....and the one question I have at the moment is...can I use store-bought salad dressings??? Does anyone have suggestions as to which ones? I'm sure we have to look out for sugar....Many thanks in advance!!! Any never-ending gratitiude for all of your answers and support so far!!

Smile hi melissaann

You're not alone. Lots of people find it takes more than a few "false starts" before they finally take off on the unbroken journey ..

Think of the program in terms of just the Induction period. Make the commitment to just do it for 2 weeks -- don't even think beyond that. 14 days -- you can do it. I have a hunch that the scales and the tape measure will provide you with plenty of motivation to stick it out for the long haul. Plus, the carbs will have been flushed out of your system, you'll be in ketosis and fat-burning mode, and your resolve will be much stronger.

About bottled salad dressings ... yes, I use bottled as well as home-made. Your best bet are Regular types, not light or ultra lowFAT types, since these have added sugar and starch products to make up for the oil that isn't there. Most Italian and Zesty Italian are good, 1 carb or less per Tbsp. I like Kraft Ranch and Creamy Caesar, which are 0.7 carbs per Tbsp. Most tomato-based dressings - French, Californian, Catalina etc. are also sweet, and much higher in carbs. I like to use 1 Tbsp bottled dressing, then stretch it out with an extra Tbsp mayonnaise or olive oil. Oh, and make sure the mayo. is low in carbs too. The light and lowfat versions of mayo are much higher in carbs too...
