Question when to carb...

I have a ski trip for a week starting this weekend. I'm gonna stay doing my keto diet, but I may change to carbs if I need them.

But I want to know when I should carb? SHould i do a carb up before and/or after the trip or not at all???

Skiing in August? Must be nice!

I remember going on a few skiing trips with the same idea (keto-ing throughout). Ended up eating everything in sight once I hit the slopes, didn't gain a pound. Depends how you ski, I guess. I try to leave it all out on the slopes!

Actually, I think I did gain some weight - as muscle. Once I returned and the pain in the quads subsided, I could squat more weight in the gym!

I wouldn't go keto on the slopes. You want your maximal performance when you are out there, and keto is not the way to go for that.

Start your carb-up the night before you intend to ski, and keep it going all weekend. Might not store as much, since you will be active, but you will be needing those carbs.

Have a fun time!

thanks for the input guys...

so should I keep carbing all week whilst I'm skiing, or just the weekend and then start back on keto?

Also should I carb load again when I get back before I start training again???

-If you're skiing all week, then all week. However, you might want to taper the carbohydrate intake down as you progress into the carb load/week.

-I think you'll be sufficiently 'carbed' ... but, if you want to or feel fatigued- you can.
