Default Carb-up question/opinions...

Just a quick question regarding the 'carb-up'- What do you guys do if you find yourself at the same weight you were at the previous Friday? Do you proceed to carb-up anyways... or do you just eat low-carb for a few more days? The reason I ask is because I usually encounter this problem (leading me to believe I'm only burning off the fat from the carb-up during the low-carb week and starting the dumb cycle all over again); as of late I've been carbing up every 10 days (for 'one day'... starting after my depletion workout up until bed time). Now, I lose the extra 2 pounds of fat [per week]... BUT, I'm losing quite a bit of muscle in the process. Any suggestions...?

Reevaluating the carbup may be the obvious thing to do, but don't overdo it so much that you will undercompensate the muscles and be absolutely miserable working out the following week. I've done that - sucks big time!

That's exactly where I am at right now (had a really lousy week). I'm planning to just carb as usual (no, not a 6-pounder) and move on instead of setting up another lousy week.

You said that you're losing muscle in the process. How do you know - bodyfat measurements? What about strength in the gym? Here's a theory - with 10-day cycles you are likely to be under-carbing, so to speak, and that effect may be accumulating week after week...

-I've tinkered with numerous ways of carb-loading. Whether it be carbing up exactly like Duchaine outlined (getting up at night, switching from high G/I to low G/I, etc.). As well as eating as many carbs as I want (whether it be high G/I or low G/I) and got similar results. So, what I do now is- basically, eat all the high carb, low fat ... goodies I want (for roughly 16 hours... from the moment I finish the depletion workout... to the time I go to bed at night). I consulted with Lyle McDonald and he agreed that with this approach, you really do not need to count calories and worry about the G/I of the carbs for such a short carb-load (as fat spillover should be nearly impossible as long as fat intake is kept low... under 88 grams for me).

-Yep. I know they're not PRECISE... but, there's no mistaking the fact that I've lost a considerable amount of muscle (trust me).

-Basically, my strength is pretty good after a carb-load. However, by day 9 and the depletion workout comes around... I feel like a piece of bacteria laden shit.

-That's what I figured. I just really- DO NOT want to risk the chance of fat-spillover doing a 36 hour carb-load every week. Ugh.

Question

I am having the same problem Zeus
I am the same wieght this friday as last friday (178lbs)
It is Fing frustrating!
I keep close track and I am following correctly.
I even added in 15min xtra to my morning cardio.
I never take measurments though.
I only carbed up 24 hrs last week and am doing the same this week. This week my arms changed a little bit visually.

I am wondering if my body got use to this diet?
I am gonna try the coconut oil this week if I can find it locally.

-Two weeks ago I gained a few pounds from somewhere from fri-fri. that was on a 36hr carb up.

I only want to lose about 10 more pounds. It is taking longer than I thought. All the fat is on my stomach and chest.

This week I am going to up my cardio, drink more water, and eat the min amount of calories I can. (x10)

Good luck with all yall

-That fat... will be the last to go (sucks, doesn't it). My whole body is pretty defined for the most part, but, my stomach is still there... my abs are barely visible (unless I get in some good light and scrunch down really hard)... pretty frustrating.
