Default Bwahahahahaha Eeet Vorrrksss!!!!

k

i joined this web page / forum just a few weeks ago.
My first post went something like: Hi im new to this diet, my stix dont turn purple, wtf am i doin wrong, help!!!

ANYWAYS

its now like 4-5 weeks since ive joined and guess what?

yesterday i had a massive omlette with everything i could find in the fridge for breakfast, 6 pieces of church's friend chicken WITH the batter and skin, went to the KEG and had a KEG sized prime rib with all the trimmings, sauce, AND veggies and a ceasar salad with ALL the dressing (but no croutons), had two 6 oz martinis, went to see a movie and downed a few chips, some butter drenched popcorn, like 4 cans of diet pop, and then went out for dessert and had some fruit cup with like 3x the amount of real whip cream

then went home and tested purple still on my keto stix for like the 3rd week straight

the night before I went out for some chinese banquet dinner including battered and fried prawns, cream sauce crab (battered, flash fried, then cooked), deep fried spinach with chicken, ..had a few glasses of wine etc... heck i even had a bowl of some thick soup that im sure had lotsa carbo in it...

you get the idea

Im eating lots
Im eating what i like
and Im eating carbs

and my keto stix are purple every night (yes yes, even when i DONT have alcohol for those of u that know alcohol can affect keto stix color)

but best of all, im now 220, since 241 from 4 weeks or so of this diet.

for you skeptics, IT WORKS!!!! =D and I have yet to hit my CLL. Even tho im sure im eating more carbs than i should (Ive gotten too lazy to count now. Im just gonna wait till my stix stop turning color)

Just thot I'd put a quick post to encourage u newbies trying out the diet for the first time =D

And as a side note, for those of you that remember my earlier posts, I did extend my induction diet past the 2 weeks. I LOVE meats anyways so it was easy, but i stretched it to 3 1/2 weeks + with less than 10 g carbs/day as I didnt mind what I was eating. but now, ive been piling on carbs , and it doesnt seem to be slowing my weight loss or keto testing!

this feels great!!!

Now to hit below 200 and win that bet with myself to buy a new car when i hit 190 lbs =D

Yes you seem to be on a roll. But just like a train, it takes time getting going and time to stop. You seem to be able to listen to what your body needs and adjust your lifestyle accordingly. Make sure that you keep an ear out for any decrease in bodyfat loss.

You have left the Atkins program and are now in unchartered waters. (I know I've just switched from trains to ships, forgive me) This is the ultimate goal of the Atkins Program, but only after the first four stages have developed the conditioning and confidence he feels are needed.

The purple strips are not a good indicator of whether you are burning body fat, but you seem to also be monitoring yourself on the scale as well. You are using dietary fat to help induce and sustain the ketosis as well as to minimize the impact and absorbtion of the carbs you are taking in. By keeping this high fat ratio, you are able to "cheat". (and double the pleasure in the eating)

As long as you are happy with your rate of weight loss then I say have fun and experiment with what works. You are obviously have a pioneering mentality so the adventure of exploring new bounds is where the fun is.

Good Luck

Colin

Default Wow...

....all I can say is that your CCL must be very high for you to eat the things you are eating and still lose and stay in ketosis. I wouldn't recommend what you are doing for everyone, though, especially someone who is new to low carbing. If it works for you, great! But for others, I'd still recommend sticking with the program as written until you get a good handle on what effect different foods have on your body and what you can and can't handle. What you're doing looks more like pre-maintainace than ongoing weight loss for most folks, but again, if it works for you...great! Just a tip, though....higher levels of carb should be consumed with lower levels of fat. As you increase your levels of carb, your fat intake should go down. Even if you are still losing, the effect that higher levels of carb WITH higher levels of fat can have on your blood work (HDL, LDL and triglycerides) might not be too positive. Remember...the goal of low carbing isn't just to lose weight..it's to improve your overall health, too.

It does happen to me that when i 'break away' from induction and upped my carbs (e.g. taking 2 tablespoons of rice for a meal, eat some chips etc)....i will still lose and the results were in fact better than during induction. It is all trial and error.....and much to my delight.

recently i was at a dance class and because i am a pretty lazy bum (to exercise) and got my whole body aching the next day. I felt much heavier and my scales proved me right....due to my new muscles....so my weight went back another 2-4 pounds. during these days, i still do pop in a little chips and take count of my carb intake.

Last time i used to be quite aggressive and impatient with LCing. and i used to go off the wagon if i dont see results within this or that period. But since this april, i have returned with a new perspective of how to reach my goal (hopefully by next Feb I will reach my target)....i allow myself for bends....seems like cruising to a halt soon....i told myself at least i am losing though in a much slower pace (perhaps 2-4 pounds a month).

Being able to up my carbs and not having too much restrictions will definitely make my LCing very enjoyable.
