Default Thyroid Ultrasound

Just got back from my thyroid and ultrasound and was told that I do not have any nodules and that it is abnormally small and has the texture that you would expect from someone who has thyroiditis.

Off to research now...anyone else got any ideas?

Odd! I would think the thyroid would swell when you have thyroiditis, a condition called goiter.

I know.

I read that sometimes the thyroid shrinks in the late stages of Hashi's and that meds can shrink it or that it can be caused by secondary hypothyroidism caused by the pituitary. I hope its not caused by my pituitary gland.

Have not found anything really specific despite trawling the web.
