Default Lipitor and Atkins

Last time I was on Atkins, I was not taking a cholesterol-lowering drug. This time, as I start, my cholesterol is in the target range, purely because of Lipitor.

I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who may have been able to get off cholesterol-lowering meds while following the Atkins plan. Of course, I won't take myself off the meds, but I *would* like to be able to make progress toward ending my need for the lil suckers.

You will almost certainly be able to get off the Lipitor following an LC lifestyle. In the first four weeks I went from 201 (total cholesterol) to 153.

Certainly check with your prescribing physician. Key to this is finding out if he is aware of the ACTUAL track record of LC diets on cholesterol instead of just the conventional wisdom of what LC diets are SUPPOSED to do to you cholesterol.
