Beat Prostate Cancer by Getting Your Omega-3s

Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids may help prevent prostate cancer from spreading.

Omega-6 fats, the kind found in most vegetable oils, increased the spread of tumor cells into bone marrow. However, the spread was blocked by omega-3 fats, suggesting that a diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids could potentially inhibit the disease in men with early stage prostate cancer.

Prostate cancer, which is the third most common cancer in men, is more treatable if it is diagnosed before it has a chance to spread.

Dr. Mercola's Comment:

The evidence continues to mount. Not all unsaturated fats are good for you. Even if they come from such healthy sounding foods as biodynamically grown sunflower seeds.

You see, most vegetable oils are very high in omega-6 fats and very few people are deficient in these fats. Thanks to the miracle of food processing, the average American is consuming about 100 times more omega-6 vegetable oils than they did around 1900.

That doesn't add up to a prescription for health, and one of the first ways we can see this is in the development of common cancers like breast and prostate.

Additionally, omega-3 fats provide a wonderful benefit for prostate cancer patients by blocking the functioning of omega-6 fats that cancer cells use as an energy source. This occurs at the molecular level, when omega-3 fats eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) curb the action of a metabolite of the omega-6 arachidonic acid, prostaglandin E2.

The only point I disagree with regarding this study is that scientists recommended eating fish as a prostate cancer preventative -- which would be a perfect solution if they weren't tainted with mercury for the last few decades.

That's why one of the best things you can do to fight and prevent cancers of all kinds is to take a high-quality omega-3 oil like krill oil daily.

Krill is an amazing source of omega-3 fats, as they only grow about to one inch or so and are harvested in the clean waters of the Antarctic. They are also very low on the food chain and are free of virtually all contaminants.

The bad news for krill oil is that the supplier of the one brand I trust and highly recommend, Fresh Shores, has been absolutely overwhelmed with orders. We are currently on backorder with them, BUT they have informed us that in two weeks they will be providing a limited supply.

So if you are interested in this top-recommended product, read more about krill oil here -- and be sure to input your email on the page so you are among the first to be contacted when the new limited-supply shipment arrives!

This is really the most amazing source of omega-3 and the one I have been using exclusively since January. I have decided to give a free bonus you will read about at the krill oil page for those who input their email and then order the 3-pack when it becomes available, to compensate them for their inconvenience. Those that order earliest will likely get the oil in two weeks, otherwise it will be about one more month before enough bottles can be made.

Since cancer is now the number one cause of death for most Americans you will also want to review the detailed checklist I wrote last year to help you radically lower your cancer risk.

Guest Comment by Dr. Larry Clapp

Dr. Clapp has compiled a comprehensive prostate program that has achieved national recognition. His 16 year old very successful Prostate 90 healing program is based upon deep cleansing of accumulated toxins from the body and prostate, then flooding the cleansed cells with omega 3 fats.

"Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this study is the clear evidence of the mechanisms by which omega-6 fats stimulate prostate cancer growth, clearly debunking the industry hype that vegetable oils are good for our health.

Unfortunately nature's abundant omega 3 fats in fish have been rendered dangerous by mankind having poisoned every body of water on the planet, with mercury.

We have seen dramatically reduced inflammation generally (measured by CRP tests) and especially in the shrinking of enlarged prostates, also reducing any tumor mass, monitored/measured by Power Color Doppler Sonograms.

See: www.PhoenixSonograms.com to learn more about monitoring the prostate accurately."
