Lightbulb Dietary limitations and snacks

I have some dietary limitations - I am lactose intolerant. I can eat yogurt and hard cheeses. But, I find myself more limited when I need a snack becaue so many foods have dairy that I cannot eat.

Plus, I had my gallbladder out years ago, but I am still sensitive to fried foods and peanuts. Lately, peanuts make me wake up with the worst somach aches. I had one this morning and cannot afford to be down with cramps when I have to get the kids off to school.

Does anyone else have limitations like this? What do you snack on? I'm one week into induction right now (down 4-5 lbs). I have horrible bread cravings.

Plus, I am a compulsive overeater -- though not binging in years-- more like mini-binging. So, I know it's not always hunger driving me to eat, but need something safe to deal with it all.

Can't wait for your advice!

I assume you mean that you *can't* eat hard cheeses -- but I don't know much about lactose intolerance, so perhaps I misunderstand?

How about:

deviled eggs
olives
beef jerky
pepperoni slices (if you microwave them they come out like crisp chips)
pickles
celery with a little schmear of peanut butter (or does that affect you like peanuts?)
avacado chunks in a vineagrette
broccoli and cauliflower florets dipped in vineagrette dressing
Spinach leaves and bacon rollups

Hmmmm, lemme think on it some more...

Thanks for the reply. I have been munching on salads. I could keep more eggs (although my family goes through 2 dozen a week!)

I can eat hard cheese. There is very little if any lactose at all in hard cheeses, yogurt, and butter.

Those lactaid pills don't work for me.
