Default Weight Gain When Beginning Exercise?

Anyone found that when they first start an exercise program, particularly involving weights, that their weight goes up for awhile?

If so, what happened, and when did the weight start coming off again?

Default re: weight gain when beginning exercise?

I used to lift regularly and recently started again. I definitely noticed a small weight gain and even a gain in measurements for the first week. A friend who owns a gym told me that it is normal, especially while you are in that initial, sore muscle phase. The muscles are being torn down and rebuilt and require lots of extra fluid to repair themselves. Stick with it until the soreness passes and you will begin to see those fabulous toned muscles emerge.

I'm noticing this too... and have decided to stop weighing every day. From now on, I'll be weighing only once per week. There's no way I'm giving up the exercise!
Stay strong Anita!

it is usually muscle gain (which will incidentally help you to burn fat). go by how your clothes fit.
