Talking Newbie Alert: I'm Melting! I'm Melting!

Greetings all! I just found this forum and this is my first post. Please be gentle.

I started Atkins (again) May 5th 2004. My goal date is 05-05-05. I started weighing 260.0 and am currently at 244.8. That is 15.2 pounds forever banished! My goal is to weight 130 (I am small boned) so ultimately I am losing half of me.

I haven't started a journal here yet. I have a private one which suits me for the moment. I may start one here in the future, though it won't be a food intake journal (since that is what my other one is).

I am a 100% disabled vet and am not allowed to exercise, so the weight must be lost through diet. I am also under orders to lose it as quick as I can as I have a pending hip replacement surgery this year. My doctor backs what I am doing and is keeping tabs on blood sugar and such. I have a lot of different conditions which make it really hard to lose weight, but I am stubborn and determined.

Best of luck to everyone!!!

Welcome and good luck. You can really use your journal here however you want. I use mine just to discuss my thoughts on my progress thus far. Any question or thoughts are welcome here. We have a wonderfully supportive and caring group.

Welcome Innamora! Congratulations on your success and getting off to a great start! I have a friend who had both hips replaced when she was in her late thirties due to arthritis. It gave her a new lease on life and her increased mobility is amazing to see. She had to lose weight for the surgery, too. Glad to have you with us.

Can you not do seated exercises or even some gentle swimming?

Those are pretty low impact and your doctor might approve them.

Here is a good seated exercise website to look at......

Thank you all for the welcome!

I do use FitDay... *grins* Have been for eons. Love it!

No exercise allowed at all. My bones are too brittle and the doctors say no way at all. Every time I do exercise, I manage to either do muscle damage or bone damage. I may be allowed to do Pilates again in the near future, but that's about it.

I remember my Dr. telling me no exercise. I got fat, and my pain got worse. So I said to hell with it and guess what happened, I got stronger and my pain decreased. The old saying goes "if ya don't use it, ya lose it"

I would like to thank everyone for the most warm welcome!

I had weigh in yesterday and I was down 18.2 pounds. This morning I checked and I was down another 1.6 for a grand total of 19.8 pounds gone forever.

The doctor has me checking my weight on a daily basis because I have a huge problem with bloating. A water weight gain of over 10 pounds in a day has not been unusual for me. Last month I woke up with stretch marks all over my arms due to a 15 pound gain in 24 hours. So don't worry. I am not obsessing about the scale, but using it as a tool to gauge bloating.

Again, thank you all!

Oh, at the advice of many, I did start a progress journal. No food/intake entries in this one, just the usual babbles and progress.
