Unhappy Calculating Nett Carbs by Confused???

Hi All
I started dieting low carbs a week ago, ive lost 4 lbs, i have PCOS. however, the more i read the more i hear that the 20grams of carbs a day i should be sticking too aren't just the carbs on the backs of packets but the NETT carbs only. Am I correct in saying I should be on 20 gramms of NETT carbs a day and can anybody tell me the correct way to work out NETT carbs when looking at a food package that only gives you CARBS as most of them do in the UK. Help???

Linzi, net carbs refers to the total amount of carbs minus the fiber carbs. The idea being that fiber is not processed by the body but passes through (so to speak). If your packages don't give the fiber grams, get yourself a carb counting book (Atkins makes one as well as many others) and/or use a carb counter on the internet to determine the correct number of carbs. The 20 grams a day for Atkins induction is 20 net carbs. On induction you will get fiber grams from veggies. I hope this answers your questions. Congrats on getting started and your success so far!
