Default Drinking Too Much Water??

I recently switched to distilled water as it tastes much better than tap water and I am drinking any where from 2 gallons (256 ounces) to 3 gallons (384 ounces) a day.

I've just gotten used to drinking water as it fills me up so I don't eat as much so I drink 32 oz before a meal, eat less at the meal, then drink 32 oz after a meal. By the end of a day I've calculated that I drink b/t 2-3 gallons a day.

Is this too much water? Will it cause water retention and make my weight increase b/c the body cannot process such a quantity?

I've researched on the internet and can't seem to find much on it besides the usual stuff about how marathon runners can drink too much (i'm not a runner). I just drink alot when in the car, at home, at the gym, etc.

2-3 Gallons of water per day is quite a lot....
You must be in the bathroom quite a bit.
I had been wondering if I was drinking too much water as well and I take in about 3 liters per day. Most of what I got was about runners ect. as well. I think that perhaps you may want to cut the amount of water that you are drinking....
maybe to 1 gallon...which is about 4 liters I think....

I don't think I can only drink just 1 gallon. If i did, I would definitely eat alot more and more often. I'm basicaly drinking to avoid being hungry so if i drink less i'll be more hungry adn I figure water has no calories or fat and that's better than eating more bacon, eggs, chicken etc. I"d probably have to increase my calories by at least 1000/day with food if I didn't drink so much.

I just want to know if there's any risks with drinking so much. If not, and there's no water retention that I will continue to drink that much.

Hey.. I am not sure of all the medical terms, maybe someone will read this and be able to fill in all the necessary jargon.. But, Ill explain it how my mom (an RN) explained it to me. When you drink so much water you can actually dehydrate yourself. Your body has to have so much salt (or sodium) in it to work properly, and excessive water intake will depleate that. You can end up injuring yourself if you drink too much water. I wish I could explain it better, but basically thats the jest of it. I drink a gallon a day, and I feel like I am constantly drinking it. I feel like Im going to float away most of the day. I dont know how you do it. If I am not mistaken a gallon is around 150 something oz, and thats A LOT of water! Anyway, I drink my gallon and make sure to keep my salt intake up and take my vitamins everyday. I hope this has helped some.

As someone on this message forum once said, "Why would I tell myself to only eat when I'm hungry, yet force myself to drink when I'm not thirsty?"

I'd definitely be concerned that drinking that much would be upsetting mineral balances in your body, maybe even vitamins too.

just becareful not to wash out your electrolytes in your body. that's alot of water, i drink about 96 ounces a day and that seems like alot hehehe i think a gallon is 128 ounces that's an incredible amount of water, plus if you are hungry you should eat. this way of eating means to never go hungry =)
