Default Save the cereal......

Just bought this and I'm obviously not doing something right. Gross! too mushy, too bland. I've put a ton of cinnamon sugar on it (splenda) and added more to make it thicker, not sure it helps.

I'd love to have a back up for when I don't feel like another egg. And love hot cereals.

I bought a low carb cereal from netrition.com that I really like. Unfortunately, I can't remember who it's made by right now but can look tonight. All I know is that it comes in a silver bag. I bought the cinnamon one and it tastes similar to cinnamon instant oatmeal only not as chewy. I'll post the name tomorrow.

This is a much better product, but you may still not like it. Quaker Oatmeal it ain't.

The apple cinnamon is the best flavor. No splenda needed.
(A little whipped cream doesn't hurt, though.)

mmmmm! Apple cinnamon! I guess I'll have to try some other brands then.
I don't expect quaker, but something better than soggy cardboard would be nice.

Those eggs are looking way yummy now and I'm off to make a few.

Missie, I agree, the Carbsense Spice cereal is AWFUL. I threw the whole box away. I do have the chocolate variety, and it reminds a bit of Malt o Meal if you doctor it up with butter, splenda, and cream.

I think RobsGal may be referring to Flax o Meal. I have a few bags of it, and it is definitely an acquired taste. I have a recipe to make flax pancakes with it if you end up getting some and are interested. Just let me know.

I also threw out the Carbsense country spice flavor that I bought. Absolutely made me gag.

Keto is OK, apple cinnamon flavor with cream and extra cinnamon, and a couple of Tbls. of bran (adds fiber and texture, not so glue like).

I tried the Hi-Lo cold cereal and found it OK if I added splenda to it. I only have it about once a week with carb countdown milk.

I saw the chocolate one and almost got that. I'll probably end up ditching this box - or maybe sneaking it into some things, but no more strait I wasn't gonna try anymore Carbsense- but I might go ahead and try the chocolate, surely everything they make can't be nasty can it?

I hated the CarbSense spice cereal too the first time I tried it. Then I tried adding some DaVinci's banana syrup and almonds to it. Improved it 100%!!

A less-expensive alternative I've found for the chocolate hot cereal is to mix roughly equal parts flax meal, wheat bran and some chocolate protien powder or shake mix, whatever I have on hand. (Same ingredients as the Flax-o-Meal brand, WAY cheaper!) Nuked with enough water to be "gloppy" some Splenda and cream, and I can pretend it's Malt-o-meal. I've also tried vanilla shake mix in it and added some cinnamon and a touch of nutmeg, even a bit of sugarfree spiced cider mix. Pretty good, as far as science experiments go!

I had an equally horrid experience with flax o meal. It was by far the nastiest thing I've ever had the misfortune of eating. I love oatmeal and am beginning to think I'll never eat it again.
