Default Cheating today

Okay, I have a question....if I do LC all week and cheat one day will it effect my weight loss? Also, I have heard it will increase your weight loss if you cheat one day because it spikes your metaboliosm....is this true? Is one day going to hurt me????

Don't do it!! If you are a bodybuilder and doing a CKD or TKD that is a different story but just to cheat for the sake of it has never been worth it to me. My dh cheats once a week - Krispy cremes, chips pizza etc but he is a bodybuilder. I joined him 3 weeks ago and still regret it! I felt emotionally and physically so awful the next day. It set off cravings that just did not quit and along with that all of those awful self doubting feelings. Good luck with your program. Put your health first - that is what is most important!

I know how tempting that is, but I agree that it's not worth it. Sorry

Besides feeling awful physically, and guilt-wise, it's SO hard to get back on once you do it. I have years of experience in this.

Dr. A says in DANDR that one single cheat will set your weight loss efforts back a week. (That's assuming you get right back on) And when he talks about "cheating" in the book, he only means to go on a different weight loss plan, not really to just cheat. I know, it stinks.

What is it you're looking for? Is there maybe a lc alternative that would do?

I enjoy doing the Atkins very much, I have been folllwing it strictly for about 2months now and just want to have a "day off". I hope it doesn't set me back too much!

I find that if I stay very low carb for the rest of the day one "cheat" meal does not throw me off track. I usually do not eat sugar when I cheat though (pasta or potatoes or something with breading on it) and I do not do this frequently, maybe once a month. The couple of times I did eat junk (Halloween) I felt horrible (sick) after.

Just curious... How long have you been doing atkins and are you still maintaining the induction phase? I kknow that for me I hated induction I thought it was pure torture and wanted to cheat frequently! However I didn't cheat, I made my way through and went to owl. For me that took away the need to cheat because I had so many choices.

If you cheat enough to throw yourself out of ketosis you will see an immediate gain of about 3 to 5 lbs. This is water weight caused by the liver refilling its glycogen stores. It usually brings with it about 3 lbs of fluid to do the job.

It will come off again of course when you become ketotic again but OMG gaining and losing the same 3 lbs everyweek would be soul destroying.

personally, I wouldn't do it. one day off for me, usually turns into a month or more off. Good luck if you decide to do it. Just don't weigh for a week so you don't get discouraged too much

More reasons not to do it than just weight gain or stalling. How about having to deal with cravings continuously? If you don't eat it, you won't crave it.

I wouldn't recommend it! I've been cheating once a week for a few months and stopped losing, but havent gained either.

And it's true, if you cheat, you will crave!

Well how about this.

If you're staying at about 20 carbs/day, have your 'cheat' day go up to say 40 carbs. But cheat with some extra veggies or some fruit maybe? Rather cheat with legal stuff instead of sugar.

Good luck to you

the reason most people are on a diet is because they cant control their eating habits. atkins is for changing
your way of life, some people do not want to change,
atkins works for those who do.
