I just realized. "Dr. Atkins died of heart failure [induced by his own diet]" is going to become a popular urban myth now, and once an urban myth, always an urban myth. We're going to have to deal with this ignorance for the rest of our dieting lives.

Ugh, pass me some high fat, low carb comfort food. :[

You are so right...this is extremely discouraging and disgusting. I've already tried to explain to one friend about FIVE times that I don't just eat meat and she STILL doesn't get it!!! We'll probably always have to defend this woe.

On the bright side...at least lc foods are easier to find now.

Yes, it will probably float around for a while, because of the irony attached, like the myth that Houdini died during one of this escape acts. (It was actually of perionitis and had nothing to do with his act.)
But I do think this will become more studied and more accepted, and soon it will reach that stage when people do enjoy correcting others about it.
As I enjoy correcting people about Houdini.
