Question Help Please

I have heard that some brands of bacon are better than others for low carbers on atkins cos they don't have other added ingredients. which brands does anyone recommend for being good on this 'diet' - sorry. and where can it be bought in the UK?

Hi and welcome to this forum.

Whilst there is talk about nitrite free bacon, and I know you can buy it somewhere, in the 2.5 years I have been low carbing I have always just eaten the bacon you buy in the supermarket and with good results. See my photos below.

The one thing to watch is that bacon contains quite a lot of salt and therefore you need to make sure that you drink plenty of water to flush the salt out.

Every success.

Hi newteen16 - I agree with Anne - I have used Walls bacon throughout and not had a problem. (I prefer the taste of walls to others)

welcome

I buy cheap bacon off cuts at about 1 pound a kilo. They are a great cheap source of fat and protein.

I soak and wash them in cold water before cooking. This washes out much of the salt and I expect nitates and sugar too.
