Hey guys, I really like sushi, and aside from the rice, it's good for you. Is there a low carb version that I can order? Can they make it w/o the rice?

Ask for sashimi, which is just the raw fish. I have it once in a while as a treat Where I get it, it's served on shredded daikon, which is also OK to eat.. And while I am sure the pickled ginger is sweetened, I eat that too, along with a bit of soy sauce and wasabi.. Love the stuff!

I often make my own sushi. Many grocery stores sell nori (seaweed) wraps in the asian section these days; if you can't find it there, then try a japanese/asian food store. For the fish, get the absolute freshest fish you can find. Here in LA, there's a japanese grocery that sells sashimi.

Just wrap the fish up in the nori...there's your sushi. Dip in soy and wasabi (which you can also find at many grocery stores these days)

Beware of the fake crab they sell in the food section - it's full of carbs.

Some of the sushi types I make: salmon, tuna, salmon and cream cheese, salmon and avocado, shrimp (cooked), tuna salad
