Unhappy Injury Question

Satuday I went jogging and had to limp home. The pain is in the gastoc where it meets the achilles tendon. I had been having alot of tightness in that area a couple of weeks prior. On Monday, I had an appt. with an ortho Dr. for something else and I asked him about it. He said the good news was that it wasn't torn. He said to do alot of stretching and put some little heel piece in my shoe, available at sports authority. But I didn't ask him how long to wait until I try to run again. It still feels very sore and in spite of lots and lots of stretching, it feels the same, as if it hasn't made any progress healing. I want to run today, but I'm afraid. What to do???

Default Don't run

Swim. Bike. Anything else you can think of that's cardio. Just don't run.

Your body's trying to tell you something. How much louder do you want it to get before you listen?

You might want to call the office, too, and ask about how long to lay out.

Another question: What caused the problem? New shoes, new running track, additional mileage?
