Angry muscles hurt

I have been having pain in my thighs..the front part ( don't know the name of that muslce) when I get up in the AM, and if I sit for awhile..when I get up it just hurts me

I wonder what that is? I have lost some fat in my thighs..I can see that..but I wonder what the pain is from?

Does anyone know what it could be?

At 1st I thought it was from using that *muscle* too much or something..now I'm starting to think it maybe from the way I am eating...maybe too much protein?

Yes, I have experienced this as well and I am sure everyone else will tell you to "make sure you are taking your vitamins." It is so important to make sure you are getting enough magnesium and calcium. When they told me that I starting being more careful about at least taking a multi-vitamin EVERY day and drinking enough water and it went away really fast. Hang in there and take vitamins!

Good Luck!

Definitely get the vitamins and minerals in. A quick search for "Magnesium and Calcium and Potassium" will give you information on the dose, timing and type of supplement you should be taking. The magnesium will help with the cramping/ charlie horses almost immediately.

thanks for your reply, I take a multi vitamin everyday, also calcium..but someone told me coral calcium was the best, so I have been taking that for a few weeks. Maybe that is causing my thighs to hurt?

You need to add the B complex vits. This will stop the cramping and aches and will work well with the other vits. Read Dr. Atkin's book on vit-nutrients.

I can understand supplementing Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, and Folate. But, why do Atkins Supplements contain B12 ??? I get my Daily Value, before I finish Breakfast. I can't see how anyone doing Atkins [except maybe vegetarians - in which case they should have a seperate supplement for them,] could possibly need to supplement their B12. That being said, I supplement only Folate (B9, I believe) I get the rest of my B-Complex from the foods I eat. Pork is particularly rich in B-Complex Vitamins.

As for the problem noted in the original post, it sounds like not enough Potassium. If you eat beef, keep the juices and consume them too. Beef and Soy are two very good sources of Potassium. An FDA serving [which is actually obscenely small - 3 to 4 oz.] of Top Round Steak [if you keep the juices] rivals the ubiquitous Banana. Top Sirloin and Chuck have slightly less, but are still very good sources.

Again, I recommend that you read Dr. Atkin's book Vita-Nutrients.

Pg 53 - Pg 77

Pg 72 VITAMIN B12 (cobalamin): The vitality shot

and I also agree with you that potassium & magnesium may be a little low. That can easily be corrected by using an salt substitute made from potassium chloride.

Has any blood work been done before starting Atkin's? Maybe there's some underlying health problem going on which may or may not even be related to the diet.
