Default king of queens guy low carbing!

tonight on king of queens -- the guy talked about cutting out carbs -- he joked about wishing he had known about an all bacon diet 10yrs ago - but he also sat with a dr telling him his good cholesterol went up bad went down and his BMI and blood pressure are within normal! the wife is trying to sabotage him by making pancakes hehehe!
i dont usually watch this show but im glad i was flipping past on the way to the west wing!

I was pleasantly surprised when he said "no carbs, no sugar" instead of "low-fat" like you'd expect when a TV show is talking about a diet. I love The King of Queens, and I almost didn't catch it last night — used to be on Mondays. The pancakes and syrup part was funny.

The show was a great boost to the low carb way of eating. I hope it inspires others to see that there are other ways of loosing.

more people not see us as so wierd and
ruining our health.

The publisity is good, esp if they are telling the truth about this WOL and not presenting it as eating steak and sausages all the time.

I worry it could backfire though. It's the same as when the cartoon character Cathy tried low carb a bit back. The trouble is if he sticks to the WOL and loses weight, it's not as funny. I worry the producers will push his character to instead have alot of problems with cheating, sticking to this WOE, going completely off, or just generaly being unsuccessful.

While many may cheer for him losing weight, many more may be resentful of it, and not want ot watch. The Diabetis association and others may also start putting pressure on the show for "Presenting an unhealthy lifestyle as a way to lose weight and lower cholesterol"

The thing is, I think he really IS on the diet, so they may actually not even do much about the diet on the show, and since he lost this weight basically over the summer, maybe that was just their way of telling us how he lost his weight and MOVE ON!! IF he is serious about this WOL, he may not want to "play games" about it on TV.
Who knows...........it'll be interesting to see how this is all played out. Because they really didn't "FOCUS" on the eating steak and eggs. etc..........they basically focused on how good he was looking etc.....

I heard that his weight was a huge issue for the producers of the show. They worked it into his character in previous seasons but felt it had gotten out of control. It was STRONGLY suggested that he lose at least 50 pounds.

I also suspect that it won't be a part of future storylines. I agree with the previous poster who thought it was just a way to explain it, make a funny episode or two and then move on with the show. Just my hunch...
