Hi Lucy Blue,
Welcome to the ALC's forums!
First thing I have to say is get a copy of Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution and read it. It's cheap to buy and easy to read and is key. You can do low carb without reading it but it's gonna be much, much easier if you do.
If you use Fitday.com to track your food/activities/weight etc. it will say .61g of carbs for one raw egg.
Try it out and that may help you keep more accurate track.
Normally I would only have 2 eggs and I would keep the onion slice thin (.777g carbs by Fitday.com)
Here is a link to the "Best of" Forum and an thread that is great and may help answer your question....

Again, Welcome and hope this helps!

Hi Lucy -

Welcome!

I will echo the previous post - except I would say the Atkins book is a must! And it will give you lists of food you can have just about as much as you want of!

It doesn't sound like what you had should bring you to 15 carbs... Are you making sure that you are only counting NET carbs? Veggies like broccoli have fiber, which is technically a carb but doesn't impact your diet, so you should subtract it from your total.

So - drink more water, don't be nervous, and you'll do great!

Onions have TONS of carbs! all veggies doo...but remember to count "net" carbs....meaning subtract fiber grams... broccoli haas fiber ...

anyway its EASY to eat dinner under 5 all the same! you know meat has NO carbs so make a giant burger and add cheese. 1 slice of cheese has 1 carb I think..lol and MAYO to dip! you will be under 5 with that still! drink all of your ater and BUY THE BOOK! there is no way you can do it right w/o it. also make use of fitday.com its AWESOME!

Remember you are only allowed one cup of veggies a day and two loosely packed cups of lettuce. Like they said, you really need to read the book before starting this diet.
When using fitday make sure the portion size is right. The carb counter on the atkins site is also a really good resource.

Thank you for all the support. I have actually read the Atkins book before, I was on the diet from 97-99 and went off. I have just bought the New Atkins book onlin and hope to have it within four days. I am hoping that the information i have gotten online will help me until then. I didnt realize i could subtract fiber from carbs. Do i do that with all food?

Just use Fitday and it will be done for you. It has carbs, and fibre right underneath. Take time to find the foods that best mirror what you eat and to input foods you use regularly in the custom food section using the label as reference.
