Can anyone tell me if I count all the carbs in food. In the uk it has carb count and underneath carbs which sugar. I dont know which to count. Also what about polyols. It is my second time trying, I lost one stone in two weeks first time but being veggie I found it quite difficult

To get your net carb count, the count you are looking for, you subtract the fiber from the carb count. Also you can deduct sugar alochols, which are different from regular sugar. So be careful there.

hi there,

Actually, in the UK ... the fiber grams have already been subtracted. The total carbs listed is what you should count. Polyols and glycerine are different, and the general recommendation is that you don't need to include those in your carb totals.

For more information about carb counting, fiber grams and label reading in the UK, check out this post in our UK forum.

Just a note ... candies and foods with polyols are not permitted during the 2-week Induction period. Some of the low-carb protein bars with glycerine, such as Atkins Advantage are permitted, but proceed with caution as these are known stallers for many folks.

hth,

Doreen
