Thumbs up Small Victories and My Doctor's Visit

I went to the doctor and the doctor said, No more Monkeys jumping on the bed!

Actually I did go to the Doctor yesterday and it was cool when the nurse put me on the scale. On my last visit I was 243, so naturally the nurse moved the little weight thingymagig to 200 and then 40... the balance bar stayed down on the right. Looking a little confused, she moved the thingymagig to 30... still no movement. Then to 20 and then the single bar to 7 before she could get it to balance. According to that, I have lost 16 pounds since my last visit! Strange though, she didn't congratulate me or say "nice job" (the tramp)... she mostly seemed aggravated that it took her longer to determine my weight. Anyway, I delighted in her irritation! Also, I take blood pressure medication and my BP was lower than it ever was when I was in there before, at 128 over 88, which is unheard of for me. Amazing what a few pounds can do for your ego and your health!

ONWARD ATKINS SOLDIERS! mad

Way to go MadMike ! Good for you You are doing terrific. Imagine how much fun you will have the next time you go and it takes the nurse even longer to figure out how low to move the weight to get it to balance! Enjoy your weight loss, and your improved health

Did your doctor say anything positive about losing weight? I hope someone did since it's a great accomplishment and I'm sure most of your doc's overweight patients gain versus lose. Did you get into a discussion about Atkins?

Anyway, well done. I hope you eventually get off the bp medication, too.

I had a simular experience last week too. The last time I was at the doctors I was 306. It took the nurse awhile to find my weight too, lol. But don't feel bad she didn't comment on it either. My doc did tho. He asked what I was doing and when I told him ,he said good work, keep it up. He was really suprised and impressed with my weight loss.

Thanks for the replies... I guess I just expected the nurse to say, "You are one sexy beast, you slim italian stud. Let's get you into that patient's gown and in the exam room for a closer look!" I guess I expect too much too soon. mad

Just to speak for my profession, most of those people who work in doctor's offices in the role of "nurse" are not nurses. They are just techs trained by the MD and office staff. Many people just assume they are dealing with a nurse-but we are too expensive for most doctors to hire. Next time you go to the doc, see if she had a title under her name.
Personally, I would have given you a big hug!

I am SURE that this was what she was THINKING, Mike!! Of course, it took all of the self-control she could muster to hold herself back, which MAY have seemed like irritation. But WE know better, don't we???

Good for you! Congratulations, and please accept a BIG cyber hug from me...(you sexy italian hunk you)

Jeannie
