Default Am I Where I Should Be?

Ok, I've been on the L/C thing for just over three weeks. I have lost about 10 lbs. and 1.5" round the gut. However, I've been stuck at 190 lbs for about 10 days, but I should mention that I did get down to 188 for a day. After a larger than normal meal (still low carb tho) I've gone back to 190. During induction at about day 10, I had to have several l/c beers with old school buddies but since have jumped back on and I am eating around 20 carbs per day...best guess since I don't analyze everything I eat. I have not gone onto OWL yet since my wife hasn't told me what that was, so I just keep on eating salads and meats and an occasionaly spoon full of peanutbutter. Last night I even had an Atkins advantage bar (will do in a pinch!).

Question: Am I doing this thing right? When can I have a diet soda? I usually drank a diet coke each morning but haven't had one in three weeks.

appreciate your comments!

Sounds like you are ahead of the game.

Average loss is 10% of your wanted loss during induction (that would have been 2.5) and then a approx 5% of the remaining weight to lose each month after that.

It is a slow and healthy process... and because it is slow you really learn your new eating patterns.

I would start OWL and see how you do. Try adding 5 carbs for a week and see how you do and how you feel.

A brief stall after induction is perfectly normal. Try taking measurements though since we low carbers usually look leaner faster. And note that a real stall is over 4 weeks of no lbs or inches lost.

Re: soda- try a diet soda and if you have no cravings and no gains you should be fine with them. Just don't stop your water drinking it is very important to your losses and health.

All the best to you.

regarding diet drinks, why can't you have any during induction? i am not craving anything but desserts after my evening meal now. will that go away with time?

another embarassing thing, i have gone from once a day to once every three days? i don't like that. i am taking some sugar-free fiber tablets now. i guess i will see how that works.

thanks,

parrot

Hello,
Your best bet would be to start a journal on here and try to list the foods you eat in a day, this way we will have a idea of what to tell ya. You may want to give fitday.com a try. There could be something you are eating that you do not relize has hidden carbs. Are you taking your measuring yourself.
Are you eating 3 cups of low carb veggies? Drinking enough water? Eating enough? Eating late at night?

Watch them low carb bars and shakes they can stall weight loss.
If you have the book you may want to read it again and see what you are suppose to have and not. I could be a number of things.
Let us know how it goes. Don't give up. It is working.
