Right about now I'm glad there's a picture of "Velma" to the left and not me. Here goes:

Is it normal on Atkins to have bright yellow urine all the time? I'm on day 7 of Induction. I average 3 quarts+ of water a day, plus 1-2 C coffee, 1-2 cans of Diet Rite, and a cup of herbal tea. (The coffee is half decaf, the soda & tea have no caffeine.) I am WELL hydrated. In the past when I've had this much water my urine has been very pale (except in the morning after I've had my coffee, of course).

So, is this normal? A sign of ketosis? An indicator that I need to drink even more water? Let's have a discussion about our pee!

Are you on vitamins. My pee is like that after taking a vitamin. Maybe yours are really strong.

Yes, I take Atkins' brand vitamins (but I don't always remember to take them). I accidentally bought the ones intended for the maintenance phase, but when I checked the amounts against my old regular vitamins they were still a lot higher, so that's good enough for now. That could be it, thanks.

I agree with Fat! My vitamins do that to me. Gets your attention though doesn't it?

phew....glad I'm not the only one who got a shocker after starting Atkins. Actually I figured it was the vitamins cuz once when I forgot to take them, my urine was back to normal.

Vitamins == Pee Mountain Dew.

I had a scare the other day I put one if them green tablets in the loo that makes the water a nice colour and bleaches it with each flush. Anyway I had forgoten I had done it, so when I had finished weeing the pee combined with the green went a dark brown colour!! I thought OH MY GOD, the I remembered PHEW!! Thought I was very abnormal for a moment lol

Funny, mine hasnt really changed much at all...I am in ketosis though...

I just started yesterday taking the ATKINS BASIC #3..

before this (yay so much personal info!) my urine would be yellow in the morning until the afternoon then it went clear..

yesterday it was standard 'yellow", then after i took one #3 it turned NUCLEAR yellow.. I also took a #3 at lunch.. first 'elimination' was 'regular' color but after that it was nuclear again..

no worries.. youre OK just make sure you continue drinking your water as we cant tell anymore if we need more

B VITAMINS turn your urine "fluorescent" green!

pegva, I was going to suggest it was one of the B vitamins. When I used to take them, my pee would be a bright, bright yellow.
