Default The Pill

I have read on here that certain medications will slow down weight loss. So, my question is, does anyone know if there are any effects of taking birth control pills and pain relievers like Aleve.

In the book he does mention that any hormone drug can restrict and/or slow down weight loss. I, for one, gain weight when I am on the pill no matter how hard I try not to. That said, the day I started Atkins I stopped taking the Pill. Of course I discussed it with my fiance first. Bless his heart because he is so incredibly supportive and willing to do without the convienence. All I know is that I feel better being off it and although I haven't weighed myself since I began Atkins on July 8th, my clothes are sure getting baggy.

I wouldn't mind going off of them too much, but the doctor put me on them for many reasons. One of them being polycystic ovaries. I hope since they are a low dose, maybe I'll be ok. Thanks very much for your replies and help.

I think its important to keep perspective. Yes, we all want to drop the weight as quickly as possible (you're lying if you try to say otherwise) but it needs to fit into the bigger picture of your life. Protecting your health & preventing unwanted pregnancy are still far more important than any dress size. So what if you only drop a few pounds a week instead of some huge number - you are still making healthier life choices and heading in the right direction. I wouldn't stress on it.

thats a main reason why i didn't drop the pill...i'm not ready for any unplanned pregnancies....so..might as well be patient about it and know that the weight is going to stay off..instead of worrying about the weight coming back when you return to the pill.

Hi everyone....I'm new here and I was wondering about the Pill too. I take 'em, like anuksunamu, because of Polycystic Ovaries. When I started Atkins in April though, I stopped taking them. I didn't have a period the whole time. I figured that hurt me worse than takin the Pill because I wasn't gettin rid of water weight, etc. My legs were very swollen and still are kinda. I'm workin on that. Hopefully, the weight will keep comin off...

Hello - I have PCOS and was put on the pill to regulate it. I gained weight from the PCOS and could not take it off until I started low-carbing. Now, I have lost 15 pounds in about 7 weeks, so it is possible for us... it just takes time. Your patience will be tested, but this WOE could be the answer you've been seeking. Good luck!

I think the pill may affect our weight loss in different ways. I started induction while remaining on the pill due to PCOS, and I still lost 14 Ibs in the first 2 weeks, and also my skin cleared up so much! I take ortho-ticyclin.......dont know if it makes a different which one you are taking...but the choice is yours to make its good that you have the support of your partner.......or if u feel you need to remain on them.
