Default Meat Tenderizer

I've been buying some cuts of meat that really need tenderizing, but all the supermarket brands have sugar listed as their first or second ingredient. Anyone out there know of a better alternative?

Thanks!

You know I never noticed and I've been using unseasoned meat tenderizer for years. Learn something new everyday. I've never noticed negative effects from the little used. However you can also use a marinade which I do often. Use wine or apple cider vinegar, spices, seasonings, a little oil, worcestershire sauce. Mix in a blender or shake jar. Poke meat all over with a fork, put in a zipper storage bag or container, pour the marinade over it and turn over every 4-6 hours. Marinate for 6 hours or overnight in the refrigerator. Marinade can be varied with seasonings for different ethnic accents.
