Default Carbs in Yogurt?

Hi Karen,

I've read in a couple of different threads that the cultures in yogurt eat the carbs. This really does not make sense to me, every chart I've look on says that yogurt is equal to the same amount of whatever % milk it is made out of. My guess is that the charts are correct. What is your learned opinion?

Rosemary

Here's the current thinking on yogurt...

Eat that full-fat yogurt!

My opinion? I think in order to really reduce the carbs in yogurt, the bacteria has to be allowed to eat the lactose to the point that it would be extremely sour.

Like everything else, the only way to tell if yogurt is the right thing for you to eat is experiment on yourself. I did a stint with yogurt. Now I don't eat it anymore because eating it made me want to eat more yogurt to the point of being ridiculous. THis indicates to me that there were way more carbs in it then previously suspected.

I totally agree that yogurt is addictive. I was eating it four or five times a day before, and I never really felt satisfied. I could have eaten a gallon. Beware of foods that act like that.
