This is a variation on the classic grapefruit diet which has been around forever. It is just a low carb diet with loads of grapefruit thrown in!

Don't try it if you are on any kind of medications. There is something in grapefruit that interacts with certiain medicines. I've also heard that it can make time release capsules dump their entire contents in one go - not a good idea.

Try it if you like...but it will work better if you leave out the grapefruit

Sounds like the so called Mayo Clinic Diet (which definitely was never endorsed by the Mayo Clinic!).

Why would anyone bother with all that grapefruit? Yes, you can have grapefruit on some low carb plans, but there is nothing to be gained by having it at every meal. Grapefruit has no magical, mystical fat burning effect.

And, as Robert rightly points out, grapefruit can inhibit the effect of some medications.

So I would have to also agree with Mr Fletcher - go on it if you wish, but omit the grapefruit. Of course, then you are just following a plan very similar to Atkins.
