Exclamation What exactly does a "stall" mean?

Okay, I understand when people say they haven't lost a pound in 6 months or whatever and they call that a "Stall"

But what does it mean when people say 'I can't eat that because it stalls my weight loss"?

Does it mean it stops you from burning fat or losing water weight? Because honestly, I don't care right now if I have 5lbs of water on me because I ate too much salt a few times. I drink atleast my min of 64oz of water daily, that's all I care about. I refuse to make myself drink 10 gallons because of a little water retention. It really does not bother me. But if it stops my body from burning FAT then yes, I care..

I highly doubt that I can't lose FAT with all the exercise and eating right I do just because I'm retaining fluids.. that just does not make any sense to me.

A stall usually means 4-6 weeks with no pounds or inches lost.

In my experience, when someone says that a certain food stalls their weight loss, that means that they do not lose weight that week if they consume that food.

For me, I can't lose eating low carb bars. They take me out of ketosis and cause cravings and I don't lose that week.

I seem to have been in a stall weight wise lately, bouncing up and down the same weight since March, but I have lost inches and am wearing a smaller size than I was when I started Body For Life in March.

Water weight is a big problem for some people and not a problem for others. Say you ate some salty nuts and the next day the scale was up a pound. That is most likely water retention and if it doesn't bother you then no big deal. If I ate half a can of cashews I would see some water weight gain from the salt, but also I wouldn't lose any fat because cashews are too carby and I ate too many of them. It's the calories and what they are made of that can also have an effect on the scale.

Water retention can mask fat loss, delay it, but not prevent it.
