Question Nicotine

Does smoking affect or prevent ketosis? I know quitting will be better for my general health but it's just a hard habit to quit.

When I stopped smoking on Atkin's, I felt ten times better. There is something about nicotine and cholesterol that just do not mix with me. You can really feel the oxygen getting into your body when you stop smoking and go low-carb. My skin glows alot better after quiting smoking as well.

I know two full time smokers who had no problem staying in ketosis so I think it has no effect.
Smoking isnt good for you but as far as this diet I see no problem

I smoke also I know Bad Bad Bad... but I am still loosing and am in ketosis. I guess quitting would give you more energy so you could work out longer and harder so in the long run I guess it may help lose faster

When I quit smoking on this diet it caused me to gain weight and not lose for about a month. It took my body a while to adjust to me quitting.

I too smoke & have had no problems losing. If you want to quit for the obvious health reasons go for it, in the long run you'll be better off. However, quitting does slow your metabolism slightly hence a slower weight loss & possibly even gain. Overall of course we'd all be better off quitting. Good luck.
God Bless,
Amy-Lynne

I quit about two weeks before starting Atkins (the 24th was three months on Atkins) and did great...until I started back again two weeks ago (oh, how could I????) It hasn't seemed to hurt me weight loss wise..in fact I seemed to have had a huge whoosh... but now I just have to quit all over again :::sigh:::
