Default Getting started

Hi,

I picked up the book and am reading through it. I'm going to start in earnest next Monday, but I'm using this week to prepare myself.

I went to the gym yesterday and went through the motions of the lower body workout, just to make sure I know how to do everything. I did all the reps at about a 5 or 6 intensity. Guess what, my legs hurt today. I guess I've been a couch potato for way too long. On Wednesday and Friday, I'll do the same thing

This morning I did two cycles of the aerobics workout. Thursday I'll do the same thing. Saturday I'll do three cycles.

I want to stay on Atkins while doing this, so I think I'll limit my self to 5 grams of carbs per each of the six meals. I doubt I'll buy the Author's shake product that he talks about in the book. I'm guessing it probably pretty expensive and I have some protein powder that only has two grams of carbs per serving, so I'll use that instead. And I like to eat as much real food as possible anyways.

Do you think modifying the nutrition plan this much will have detrimental effects? Any comments are welcome.

Arnie

Welcome!

Have you read Nat's sticky about combining BFL with low carb? It's full of helpful hints.

I noticed in the store that now they make carb sense shakes, but I think they still use aspertame.

I use Designer Whey myself and I put it in whole milk yogurt or riccotta cheese and it's very delicious.

I'll second one of Nat's recommendations: get the L-glutamine! It's worth it. Your muscles will recover faster and grow stronger.

I don't know what you mean by doing 2 cycles of the aerobics workout this morning and planning to up to 3 cycles. You only need to do 20MAS three times a week on non-lifting days, no more. As per Nat's sticky more is not better as it will break down the muscle you are trying to build.

Keep coming back!

Beth

Hi Beth,

I did read Nat's sticky and it is great, I'm also going to pick some glutomine. I'm not into any more pain than necessary.

I don't think I was very clear in my first post about the aerobics that I did today. What I meant to say is that I went from intensity 5 thru 9 twice, rather than the 4 times it says to do in the book. So I was doing only half of what it said to do in the book. I'll work my way up so that next Tuesday I'll be doing it as it's wrote.

Thanks,
Arnie
