Default Macadamias

Is Fitday accurate about the amount of carbohydrate in macadamias? In his book, it seems to me Dr. Atkins says macadamias have almost no carb at all, being nearly 50/50 fat and protein?

There is 5.8 grasms of carbs in 1/4 cup of these delicious nuts. DR. A liked them because of their high fat and I think they are relativly low for nuts. I started eating 1 serving a dayy because I found that the fat in them helps me loose faster. Since I started them I loose about .5 -.75 pounds a day!

I love them

My jar says they have 4 grams of carbs per serving, but 3 grams of fiber. That makes only 1 gram of carbs.

They are wonderful if you need to up your fat %

thanks flangee

yes, the high fat content was what interested me too since I think I need to get my calorie and fat content up, without disturbing or raising my carbs much.

THe book states no nuts during induction. When you come off induction they are a fabulous little treat.

Charles Van,

Nuts are a no-no while on induction.

I count macadamias at 2 net carbs per oz. or 1/4 cup.

Well, they're going in the freezer!

I just get tired of having nothing to snack on (but cheese).

Hi All!

One of the rules of Atkin's Induction is: No nuts.

I tried macadamia nuts last week and they did not speed up my weight loss. They do eat into my calories allowance quite a bit so I have to limit them.

Peace

No nuts of any kind are permitted during Induction. You may add nuts back when you get to Phase 2 OWL.

Macadamias are mostly fat, and contain very little protein. One ounce (30g) which is a bit less than ¼ cup .. provide 220 calories, 22g fat, 2g protein, 4g carbs, 2.5g fiber.

Macadamias are so delicious, and very, very addictive. It's so easy to go overboard and eat them by the cupful. Plus, the packaged roasted types can also pack a lot of salt. Go easy!

Default nuts

I also love Macadamia nuts. But I find it is really hard to stop eating them if i just open the can. I have to measure them out and only take that many of them in a baggie to work with me.

Otherwise.. I wont leave them alone.

From what I read in the book, induction is only the first 2 weeks. Even if you are still only doing 20 carbs a day and still following the induction phase.. You are past induction after the second week. or 14th day but if someone has more info please tell..

I am trying to be brave enough to start eating more than 20 carbs a day to continue the weight loss.. since I should be doing the OWL part by now. I have been low carbing since April 12th 2003. 8 weeks. I still eat mostly like I did on the induction but now I have things like jolly rancher sugar free jello once in a while.. or the splenda sweetened CANDY bars.. not protein bars.. GAG..
My number 1 food... STEAK STEAK STEAK!!

Macadamia nuts are very low in carbs. My jars say 4 carbs minus 3 for fiber = 1 carbs per 1/4 cup. You might wait until after induction though. Happy lcing.

Who only eats 1/4 cup of macadamia nuts? One bite and I'm trying to get my whole head into the canister.
