Default Carb-Up Difficulties

Hey people, I need some input here.
For the past three weeks, I performed a solid depletion workout (14 exercises, 4 sets, 20 reps, fast) and immediately started a carb up with a dextrose based drink, followed by a Met-Rx w/ added sugar an hour or so later, then a high carb meal, etc.
About three hours into the carb-up I develop very uncomfortable reflux, then, well, let's call it a forceful ejection of everything I've eaten a few hours later. And I only got in probably 250g of carbs when this happened. Third week in a row.
It appears that I can't tolerate the sudden high carb shift. I need an alternative.
Perhaps a TKD carb up before lifting of about 20g and skip the big carb-up for a week?
On a positive note,I've radically increased the amount of lifting I can do and it feels really great. I can feel and see a significant increase in muscle mass over the past month. I want to be able to continue this level of intensity.
Waistline has not budged in 8 weeks though, which is discouraging.
Comments please.

I've had problems with dextrose upsetting my stomach a little but not to the that degree - just really loud gurgling.

How much Met-Rx are you using? I used to eat Myoplex mixed up very thick, and that stuff seems to absorb water in the stomach and swell up, producing the effect you've noted. It takes a lot of it to do that though - 6-8 packets eaten close together (you know who to ask for overeating stories, right? ).

Indeed, try taking something out of the post-depletion feeding. I'm more limited than other people because of that stupid gluten intolerance of mine, but maybe you can do some of the starches?

Edit: it's just occurred to me that three hours is sufficient time to clear the stomach contents, so chances are it's what you've eaten later in that period that made more difference. Again, don't know for sure.

Man, that's a lot of Met-Rx, lol. I was just having one Met-Rx, with a couple tablespoons of sugar and 10g of glutamine.
Something is definitely out of whack on my carbup, that's for sure. I'm heading back to the MD next week anyway. He's going to check the insulin levels, which were very high prior to beginning lo-carb. I'll see what he thinks. The insulin problem could affect what's going on for sure.

I doubt tht high insulin would make you throw up. A single met-rx wouldn't make it happen either.

Occasionally I eat some peanut butter right along with the smarties and protein shakes. It kind of helps me feel a little fuller faster - fat slows down gastric emptying and generally speaking calms the digestion down. Maybe something like that would help.

Cough syrup? Dramamine, or whatever they give you on cruise ships?
