Question 2 months in.

Having done Atkins now for 2 months I have a question for all of you knowledgable people. I lost 12 lbs in the first 2 weeks and have only lost 2 lbs in the past 6. I understand that I will lose slower but this is getting rediculous ! I keep my carbs under 20 with 90% of them coming from fresh veggies. The other 10% would be eggs, cheese and cream cheese. Heavy cream occasionally. I am now trying to keep my daily calories under 1700 to see if that helps. I am walking for 30 minutes seveal times a week but still not losing much. What advice do y'all have for me ?

Alas -- my only advice:

Drink more water. Don't let it get you down.

See the Atkins quote in my signature. It's essential.

More water ?? LOL I drink about 100 oz a day as it is. I am still in Ketosis so know that something is going right. No danger of me quitting since my skin, hair and nails are sooo much nicer eating this way.

You said 90% veggis and 10% protein....eat less veggies and more protein. You need fat to burn fat.

No, sorry if there was a misunderstanding. 90% of my carbs are from veggies. Protein usually runs around 28 %. I have been trying to up the fat intake, usually around 70% but am finding it nearly impossible to do that without totally blowing the calories.

I am having a wonderful Black Angus burger for lunch. Am I right that the ratios should be 80% fat 15% protien and 5% carbs ?

Most people will usually suggest that you take measurements of your body to determine if you are losing inches instead of weight. This may be what is happening with you. Are your clothes getting any loser?
Also, technically you're not supposed to have to worry about calories. I seem to average about 1800 when I actually count. Offhand your percentages seem pretty accurate for your food intake. My fat intake averages about 75-80%. Maybe you are do a big whoosh! I hope so.

I believe ratios are generally 65% fat, 30% protein and 5% fat. I generally end up around 70% fat tho...and while I don't count calories I do try and monitor them to see that I don't go crazy. I generally average between 1500-1700 and that goes up if we eat out!

You're not alone! I've slowed down too, but just keep at it. I've got faith that there is a whoosh waiting to happen for both of us!

Fingers and toes crossed for the Whoosh !!! I am enjoying eating this way and if slow and steady is the way it is going to be then I will wait it out. I had sooo wanted to be below 160 by my dd's bday on Sept. 19th. Oh well... maybe by MY bday which is in January.

I look at it kind of like skibunni as well. I lost pretty quickly during induction, then slowed way down. However, if I take my six weeks divided by the total pounds lost it averages about 2 pounds a week. Don't give up.
