Default grocery lists

now that dh and i are off induction, was wondering what you guy's grocery lists looked like, in the way of what foods you buy. I know we all live in different parts of the country/world, so thought i may have gotten into a rut in regards to trying new veggies, or even different cuts of meat that i haven't tried before.

so what do you usually buy for this woe for the week? what types of marinades do you use on your meats?

we but

romaine lettuce
mixed greens
cheese
cream cheese
butter
poultry
shrimp
fish (cod, or halibut)
pork loins (i love these)

i will begin buying fruits soon, but was wondering if any of you have ideas on low carb tortillas, grains and which beans are best to add into one's woe.

thanks

Hi,

I think you will find as many variations as there are members here

My shopping cart is filled with meat and veges ( both salad and cooking)

Chicken, beef mince, lamb mince, fish, fillet steak, bacon are all standard fare. Also tins of salmon and tuna for quick lunches. I also by mini babybel cheese for snacking and cheese slices to melt over hamburger patties.

I use sour cream, and mayo a lot for dressings and often make garlic butter to pour over steak or chicken.

A good of substitute taco is to met some cheese then mold it over an appropiate shape bowl until it hardens into a basket chaped shell....then fill it up with all the goodies

Any berries are great

As far as beans and grains? I am coming up on my first year of being on Atkin's and I refuse to eat them. That is how I ended up gaining in the first place. I guess I am just one of those that will never be able to eat grains or beans without them effecting my weight in a bad way

Add in broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, green beans, eggplant, summer squash, zucchini, to your list of veggies. Those steamed with butter and a little basil are wonderful.

Hi jabs,

My best friend calls me "the queen of marinades"! Really, the worse it smells, the better it tastes. I buy lots of chicken wings. I can get big bags of frozen "wingettes". I make a marinade of diet coke, ceasar dressing(or creamy italian) soy sause and garlic. This is my favorite, but I also marinade them in just the ceasar dressing or terryaki. I could eat wings every day of the week! I just love them. I also have tried all these marinades on legs, thighs and steaks as well. All very good. I eat alot of tuna salad as well. And, I must have my bacon and eggs, and lets not forget about those bacon cheeseburgers and .......

Hope that helps a little,

cimart

p.s. Check out the recipe forum. Lots of good stuff there

Hi,

My shopping list always have, chicken breast, salmon, beef, cold cuts for snacks, a few cheeses like: cheddar, gouda, swiss, and feta. Feta has more carbs than the other ones but I like to have it on my salads. Canned tuna or salmon is an easy way to fix quick meals.

I have brussel spourts, lettuce, cucumber, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, spinach and other green leaf veggies...

You might wanna try to mix the ready salad dressings with a tbsp of olive oil (be sure to have a sugar free one) or you can always make your own salad dressing with mustard, mayo, lemon, olive oil, salt, pepper, and your favorite spices)

Try pork shoulder (also called butt) instead of loin--remember that fat is now your friend. I give it a dry marinade treatment for a few hours (even a couple of days) with salt/garlic/herbs/olive oil before roasting it. I also use shoulder to make my own sausage patties--no additives and much tastier.

Add Belgian endive to the vegetables--it's a little bitter, but wonderful with blue cheese dressing, or you can wrap it with ham and braise it.

I also get 10% bf yogurt with active cultures. It tastes so decadent flavoured with a little lemon peel and a few drops of sweetener.
