Default Rum?

My low carb food book says rum has 0 carbs. People have told me it has carbs. Anyone know for sure? I'm sure Captain Morgans has carbs - it's so sweet. My fav. drink has become Dt. coke and Bacardi and I'm still losing.

The distilled spirits like rum, vodka, whiskey have 0 carbs. you can look them up at http://www.fitday.com
Be aware that your body will burn the alcohol calories before it burns fat calories. Morgans probably does have added ingredients like sugar and spices so might be some carbs lurking in there.

Strait rum has 0, it's spiced rum that has carbs. That's why the Capt does. Like was mentioned you will burn alcohol before fat, and anything eaten will be stored as fat instead of burned. Moderation is the key though so have it as a treat and follow what your plan says about alcohol

I was curious about the same thing recently and shot an email over to the Captain himself, this is what I got back...

Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum contains approximately 75 calories per 1 1/4 oz. serving size, 0 grams of fat and .4 grams of carbohydrates.

Captain Morgan Silver Spiced Rum contains approximately 80 calories per 1 1/4 oz. serving size, 0 grams of fat and 2 grams of carbohydrates.

Captain Morgan's Parrot Bay contains approximately 82 calories per 1 1/4 oz. serving size, 0 grams of fat and 7.8 grams of carbohydrates.

Captain Morgan Private Stock contains approximately 94 calories per 1 1/4 oz. serving size, 0 grams of fat and 2.7 grams of carbohydrates.

I wish liquors put nutritional info on their labels. It would be better than having to ask how much is in all these flavors.

My rum weakness is Malibu. I still have a little every once in a while, but BOY is it sweet so I know it must be bad.
