Question Indian food

There may well be a thread all about this, but I have not got time to look.

So, can anyone tell me what is the most LC Indian take-way food to have? We love Indian, but have not had it since we started LCing. I can't imagine an Indian meal without Naan bread!!
Any suggestions??

Lucy

oh thats a tough case......but for health's sake maybe you dont take too much of the Naan bread. I think in fact the curries are in fact much more enjoyable without the Naan....unless u can bring some substitute low-carb breads when you are lunching on curries.

I bet curry has some carbs to take note of.

Can't help on the take-out, but it is easy to make your own curried dishes (LC style)

I've found a jarred curry paste with only 1 carb per tablespoon of paste. 1 tablespoon of the stuff added to the juices of simmerd chicken, pork or beef gives a wonderful aroma and mild curry taste. It's a welcome change for the tastebuds. The paste is made from curry spices and coconut oil as the base.

This week I made curried chicken, and we had it over boiled turnip instead of rice.

Check the specialty ailse of your grocery store. I think the brand is Patke or something like that (don't have time to run to the kitchen and check)

Post looking at my take-out menu now

I've been wondering about Indian food, too. I've found the best Indian Take-Out here in Szeged, Hungary (of all places). In fact, since mango-chicken curry (my favorite) was 1/3 the price as in America I almost convinced myself I could eat 3 times as much. Same with the pasteries. Ice Cream....

I'm new to this, but Tandoori Chicken, Lamb, Fish (Tandoori Fish?) can't be too bad--can they?--and then there are Kabobs.

Maybe someone out there has a low-carb Curry?

Default how to thicken a curry?

There's no paste here! I imagine Curry powder would work, but how would you thicken it? Or any sauce, without the usual flour?

Kathy P - I think most Indian curry sauces are cream based and just simmered down for thickness.

The Indian restaurant I frequent has plenty of LC dishes - lots of different vegetable curries plus paneer, though that may be too high carb for some. I haven't been there since LCing, but I know I'd miss the rice, naan and samosas.
