Angry Well, I am Bummed

My Mom has only been here one week and my basal BGL has gone from 90 to 140. Thankfully, she is leaving Nov 1st. I really have not cheated food-wise, but have consumed a lot of alcohol.

I had lost 45 lbs and she had the audacity to say..."from where". I do still need to lose about 50-60 more. Jeez...I thought she was going to be so impressed......<sigh>

Glad you guys are here for me.....

Ouch! Sounds like something MY mother would have said.
FWIW, I think that weight loss is awesome.
Lay off the booze, though; you know it's not helping those blood sugars any!

Some people are just toxic, even loved ones sometimes. You know that your weight loss and blood sugar control are major achievements and you should be so proud of yourself. On this board, we know how difficult it is to lose weight and lower blood sugar. We know best and we think you are great!!

Thank You Guys so much, I feel so "invaded". The latest assault from Mom was..."God, I hope I don't get Diabetes...you are so limited...." My Dad died a horrible death from Diabetes....she says she hopes I won't have the same fate! He never even owned a glucometer..ate a half gallon of ice cream before bed!!! Jeez

DH says she will not be invited back here again. We will meet on cruises, Las Vegas, etc. He is very supportive.

But, he still doesn't really KNOW like you guys do. Thank You so much for the support. I think my heart would be breaking without it!

She is gone! BG went down to 104 this morning. I can't believe how much emotions play a part in this disease.

Thanks for being there for me. This whole experience will make me so much stronger. This holiday season should be challenging....

Sherrielee,

I'm so glad your husband is taking charge and protecting you! There was a time when my mother wouldn't visit for 5 years, she was so controlling and I fought it so much. Talk about stress. Anyway, it sounded like a remark my mom would have made to, in the early days. And try as we do, they are really hard to shake off. Just try to remember, it is her problem not yours. You are doing this for you! And you are doing a wonderful job. Tina
