Default UK's First Ever Low Carb Range Launched

For all of us in the UK

UK'S FIRST EVER LOW CARB RANGE LAUNCHES
12-10-2004 09:21

MANCHESTER, England, October 12 /PRNewswire/ -- After years of inconvenience, life just got easier for the three million people in the UK who are reportedly following a low carb diet, with the launch of the UK's first ever full range of foods to support the lifestyle.

Xcarb's extensive line up of appetising ready meals, indulgent sweets and tasty snacks will at long last meet the needs of consumers who are controlling carbs; consumers who have been convinced by the diet, but have struggled to maintain the lifestyle due to the lack of products available from their local supermarket.

Significantly, for the first time ever, Xcarb will introduce ready meals into the low carb arena, with offers including 'salmon in a creamy lemon dill sauce', 'lamb shank in rosemary gravy' and that English favourite: 'chicken tikka masala'. Each of the six ready meals offer a balance of protein, vegetables and sauce to deliver optimal taste and health benefits.

Xcarb also offers hearty favourites such as sausages, mashes, pasta (fresh and dried), nine flavoursome pasta sauces, five soups and crunchy snacks. Sweets and treats include luxury dark and milk Belgian chocolate, seven varieties of real dairy ice-cream, trifles and mousses. Plans are in place to continuously extend the Xcarb range that already covers breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacking on the go.

Contrary to popular belief, there is nothing new about the low carb craze that is sweeping the nation.

Dave Marshall, Xcarb managing director said: "Having followed a low carb diet myself, I found it really difficult to maintain due to the lack of options available - I missed the convenience of being able to buy what I wanted. I also found that cost was an issue as I found myself purchasing expensive foods to substitute the lack of dietary staples, or so-called 'filler foods' such as bread and pasta."

Xcarb has received firm backing from top nutritionists who have committed to using Xcarb products in a number of UK weight loss clinics, in a bid to address the growing concerns about obesity and its damaging health effects.

Those supporting the Xcarb range include obesity specialist and GP, Dr David Haslam. He said: "A certain amount of carbohydrate in the diet is healthy and protective, but too much carb can be extremely harmful. There are an enormous number of people in the UK who would benefit from a reduction in carbohydrate, and the Xcarb products enable them to do so whilst still maintaining a balanced and enjoyable diet."

Xcarb has set up a facility on its website allowing consumers to register, and in return, receive up-to-date info on a stockist nearest to them - visit www.xcarb.co.uk for more info.

Thank you so much for the link, Demi! I have only started to post on this site, although I have visited occasionally.
It's great to see that there is at least the possibility of obtaining something tasty without slaving in the kitchen first (after having trawled the net to find the ingredients beforehand!).
I hope it eventually gets to Ireland - sometimes I feel like the only LCer in this country!
