Default Atkins in the UK

Good news for Atkins in the UK! I happen to have a client whose fiance works in PR and is doing the Atkins advertising for the UK at the moment. I am told that the Atkins boat should officially dock (IN A BIG WAY!!) on our shores in January or February next year, so good news for everyone. This happens to be quite a big agency as well so we should see bombardment on the telly and radio. Can't wait!!!

That's great news, thank you, maamel.
They mentioned in that Atkins TV programme that Atkins foods should be appearing in our supermarkets next year - but that could have meant next December!
Jan/Feb sounds much better!

I am currently speaking a restaurant that I know the owner and seeing if they would look at starting LC style menus - will let you know what he says - although they are only a one off and not a chain but it might help start getting the ball rolling.

I e-mailed Atkins direct, and this is the reply I received:

"Dear Ecco66:

Thank you for your interest in Atkins products in the UK. We do not currently have any distributors of Atkins products outside of the US and Canada. We recognize the great demand for our products internationally and are in the process of preparing for international market entry.

We are preparing to make a limited selection of products available in the UK early next year and will be announcing the products and retailers carrying the line at that time. We are excited about the opportunity to make it more convenient for you to shop for Atkins products in your local stores. We appreciate your support and look forward to serving you in the UK in the near future."

...so it sounds like they are testing the water. Maybe it would be useful if we all emailed them just so they realise how much support there is here for low carb products. I have sent off and e-mail to Tesco, and written to Asda (they never seem to reply to e-mails) asking if they will be stocking Atkins.

Address for Atkins is support~atkinssupport.com

Sounds good, ecco.

I sent an e-mail to tesco a little while back, and they sent me a polite reply saying pretty much that they were looking into it.

Since walmart seems to be a big LC supplier in the US, I wonder if we should maybe ALL write to Asda ??

Good point Med, there is such a huge range in Wal-Mart there's no reason why they couldn't ship over here as they already do with many others.

Asda's address is:

Customer Services
ASDA House,
Southbank,
Great Wilson Street,
Leeds,
LS11 5AD

i contacted the major chains-asda,tesco,morrisons a few weeks ago, none of them said that they had plans to introduce low carb products.it will be interesting to see if atkins supplies one major chain or lets them all in on the vast amount of cash to be made.
